Accessibility

Keele University is committed to increasing the accessibility of information to all users, including visitors with visual or motor impairments. This statement outlines our activities and achievements so far in increasing accessibility.

Text Resizing

Text can be increased or decreased from your browser tool bar, or on Windows, if you have a mouse with a scroll wheel, you can hold down CONTROL (Ctrl) on your keyboard and scroll the wheel backwards or forwards to alter the text size. You can also hold CONTROL and press on the + or - buttons (next to the number 0 on most keyboards).

Google Chrome

  1. Click on the 3 dots in the top right-hand corner to open the menu

  2. Halfway down that menu, find the section which says "100%" and click on the + button to increase the font size.

Firefox

  1. Click on the 3 lines in the top right hand corner to open the menu

  2. Near the top of that menu, find the section which says "100%" and click on the + button to increase the font size.

Internet Explorer

  1. Click on the cog wheel in the upper right-hand side of the window to open the menu.

  2. In the menu, find the option for "Zoom" and hover over it.

  3. In the now open part of the menu, either click on zoom in to incrementally zoom in or click on a percentage you wish to use.

Edge

  1. Click on the 3 dots in the top right hand corner to open the menu

Opera

  1. Click on the Opera icon in the top left-hand corner to open the menu

  2. Near the top of that menu, find the section which says "Zoom  100%" and click on the > button to increase the font size.

The Keele website also makes use of embedded content. Accessibility of the embedded content is sometimes out of our control especially, for example, when embedding third party content such as YouTube videos.

 

Accessibility Software

  • Firefox. A web browser with built in accessibility features. Firefox also offers third party 'add-ons' and supports screen readers. Windows, Macintosh, Linux, versions available.
  • Chromevox is a feature rich accessibility plugin for Google Chrome browser. 
  • Opera, a web browser with enhanced accessibility-related features which include text zooming, and the use of customised user stylesheets. Windows, Macintosh, Linux, versions available.
