How to advertise your society

Society Sign Up or Sports Fair

The first major interaction you will have with a large body of students will be Society Sign Up (if you are a society) or the Sports Fair (if you are a club); a large fair held in the KeeleSU Ballroom/Keele Sports Centre during Freshers Week in Sept/October and again in Refresher's Week in January. There is a society sign up mini site here with a great FAQ section.

Give It a Go Taster Sessions

We would also advise that societies put on a range of events throughout the year for free, including a Taster Session in the first few weeks of each term. This gives people the chance to try activity and is a great way to promote the society/club to potential members. Make sure to let the Activities Team or Athletic Union know if you are planning any trial sessions and we will advertise on your behalf.

Tables and Stalls

Many Societies or Clubs also have tables and stalls dotted around campus throughout the year, either inside the SU or on the Concourse area outside. These are often used to promote some form of event, such as a fundraising event, ball or party or simply to increase membership. If you would like to book a stall within the SU, please email If you are considering running a bake sale (or similar) as a fundraiser, please read the following Guidance around Hygiene

Participation in SU Events

We would also advise that societies actively participate in SU and University events, with many popular societies either performing at events or hosting tables, games or information stalls. For example, societies actively participate in:

Welcome To Britain Evening Event

Welcome Festival Stage Performances and Outdoor Tables

Society Sign Up Fair

Green Week Events and Activities

KeeleSU Fashion Show Performances and Stalls

World Festival Performances and Stalls

Community Day

Throughout the year we will put requests out for performers, stalls and society led events and activities and it is brilliant to get you all involved.

Hosting Collaborative Events

Many Societies/Clubs promote themselves by running collaborative events with other societies, therefore getting a wide range of footfall coming to their events and interacting with them. For example, collaborative film nights, clubbing events, trips to specific locations and so on, can really help boost your figures and allow you to interact with people you might not usually cross paths with.
