11th -17th February 2019 saw student volunteers did some amazing work with a wide variety of charities. Listed below is the schedule of activities, workshops, and opportunities which took place.
Organisation Code Club ran a session which allowed students to teach local children IT skills.The Beth Johnson Foundation, a charity which strives to make the UK age-friendly, working with volunteers, researchers, intergenerational practitioners, and age-specialist partner organisations, also held a stall to inform students about how they can get involved.
Local Charity Gingerbread held a session of workshops and talks to inform students about the work they do to support women and single parent families in the local area. Students were informed of upcoming volunteer opportunities.
Caudwell Children, a national charity to support children with autism diagnosis and support ran taster sessions with their 3 main departments. Students recorded their experience of the day through Vlogs, Q&A's and live Facebook streams. Our Campus Green Team also held a session to clear the Memorial Garden.
The Campus Green Team were back in full force, running a litter pick and clearence day in the woodlands.
Foodbank Friday! On the Friday we held a foodbank donation stall where students left dried goods or made a monetary donation. Both the food and funds were donated to the local North Staffs Trussell Trust food bank.
On Saturday we ran a Dog Walking opportunity at GreyHound Gap. This opportunity allows students to Take some time off from studying to get some fresh air and do something which will benefit someone else.
