Athletic Union and Sports Fair

Athletic Union and Sports Fair

The Athletic Union and Sports Fair is the best opportunity during Fresher's Week for your club to interact with new and returning students and introduce them to your sport. This year the AU & Sports Fair will be held on Monday 30th September and Tuesday 1st October at Keele Sports Centre from 10am-4pm

Similar to last year, we will be setting up a demonstration area close to the entrance of the fair. Your club can use this space to showcase some of your skills.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions):
Q - How do I sign my club up for a stall at the AU& Sports Fair?
A - To secure your club's place at the fair this year, please complete this form.

Q - Is it possible to just attend one of the two days of the Fair?
A - Of course it is! On the sign up form, you are able to select on which day you would like a stall (you can also choose both). To reach the most students, we would definitely recommend attending both days.

Q - Do we have to be at our stall for the full day 10am-4pm?
A - It would be best for you to have your stall supervised for the full day. Some times may be busier than others throughout the day, so students may come at different times depending on their availability and comfort level. It can be daunting to think that you will have to sit there for the full 6 hours, especially if you are attending both days. Try splitting the day between committee members into 2-hour shifts and group people together. That way it won't seem like such a huge task. If you do have a smaller committee, invite club members too, or let the AU know in advance what times you will be at your stall, so we can pass on any flyers or leaflets with information on your behalf.

Q - What is provided when we sign up?
A - If you've signed up to the Fair, each club will be allocated a table and 2 chairs. You can include more specific requests on the Sign Up form such as which club you would like to be next to or if you need to be close to a plug (availability is limited). We can't guarantee we will be able to fufil every request, but we will try our best.

Q - Can I bring things to decorate my stall?
A - Sure thing! Bring kit, trophies, equipment, pictures or banners to make your stall look more inviting. You can also ask to borrow some trophies. If you are thinking of bringing food or snacks to the fair then please ensure you follow the University's Food Safety Guidance!

Q - If my club is attending both days, can we leave our things on our stall ready for the following day?
A - You can, but at your own risk. We would recommend locking valuable things away overnight to ensure they are kept safe. Make sure you take any personal details with you and do not leave them laying around for anyone to pick up.

Q - I can't attend the Fair. Can I just leave a sign up sheet for people to sign up if they are interested?
A - That's a big no no! If students are leaving their details for you to contact them regarding training or upcoming taster sessions and this information gets picked up by someone else, the club can find itself in hot water! Make sure you take any lists or information with you and DO NOT leave them laying around. If you cannot attend the fair, we are happy to give out leaflets to students on your behalf.
