This event is run by Volunteering
Join us on a visit to the Whirligig Woods in Scholar Green, which is the home of the Wild Rumpus.
Wild Rumpus, are looking for volunteers for their summer festivals (they usually take on board 50-100 people of all ages/backgrounds to work on festivals in July and August). The organisation is charitable (although not a registered charity) and aims to help people encounter/re-encounter the natural world. The work is unpaid, but the organisation provides developmental training, meals, a secure campsite and facilities, and team building. The point is not just to create volunteers as stewards, but to provide volunteers with an all-round experience of working in this area of arts and culture, and allow themselves to get immersed in it. Volunteers will receive training and other support.
Katie Aldous, who is the talent manager for Wild Rumpus, will be having an open evening event on Tuesday 7th June, to talk to prospective volunteers about this opprtunity and show them around the site. Kate says, "We produce extraordinary worlds, taking audiences out of their day to day lives into magical and enchanting places which can inspire, create moments of wonder and have a lasting impact".
Alongside producing large-scale events, we’re working with performers, producers and programmers to shape a cultural environment where excellent outdoor work thrives.
With a variety of events throughout the year we deliver two Christmas events at Chester Zoo and Hampton Coury Palace, a film festival in Skipton and two 3 day camping festivals over the summer Timber and Just So. We also fit in a variety of smaller projects both public and sector facing,
The key themes that run through our work are...Nature Connectivements, Collective Wonder, Immersive Environments and Permission to Play
We are passionate about creating a quality volunteering experiences tailored to individuals and removing barriers to an adventure that can be transformative!
