Shropshire Wildlife Trust are advertising the following opportunities for volunteers:


1. Corporate Biodiversity Assistant              Closing date: 12th April 2019    (NOW REOPENED MAY 2019)   Starting Date: June/ July 2019


The successful candidate will be working within the business development team based at the Shropshire Wildlife Trust headquarters in Shrewsbury. We organise a number of business networking events over the calendar year ( )and one of the duties of the post-holder will be to organise these events, as well as the Shropshire Wildlife Trust annual conference. This event organisation will include the booking of venues, speakers, other logistics and inviting delegates. The post-holder would also be responsible for managing the MMBEN website and the corporate pages of the Shropshire Wildlife Trust website.


As part of the business development team, the successful candidate will also be responsible for delivering three corporate biodiversity projects, comprising the design and delivery of survey and/or monitoring programmes on commercial sites of our corporate partners.  This would involve liaising with our corporate member organisations, coordinating and attending meetings to discuss feasibility and design of the projects. These projects could fit the existing interests of the placement student or could allow the development of new skills and interests.  As examples, these projects could include botanical, invertebrate or small mammal surveys, the creation of management plans or atmospheric/other environmental monitoring.

2. Assistant River Project Officer   Closing Date: 16th August 2019    Interviews: 26th -29th August 2019           Starting date: 2nd September 2019

The successful applicant will be placed within the river Team at Shropshire wildlife Trust. The role of Assistant Rivers Projects Officer entails supporting  and helping  with wide range of programmes and projects undertaken by a this busy team. Activities include river health survey, natural food management, river restoration, aquatic species work, invasive species prevention, water quality, sustainable drainage and more. The applicant will not only take full/ part in these programmes but will help with social media output, write funding bids and still have time to do their own research on a relevant topic in freshwater ecology or water management.

Full/Part- time:                44 weeks – Voluntary Part time

Placement Type :             Countryside Related
