Newcastle Library IT Buddy

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

An IT Buddy will give one to one IT tuition to members of the public within a library setting. This may include individuals who are using a computer for the first time or those who wish to develop new IT skills. It may also include assisting members of the public completing online forms.

Benefits to self

Volunteers will be able to develop their communication, customer service, IT and teaching skills while assisting members of the public of all ages and backgrounds. They will be able to see first hand the importance of local services in the community.

Benefits to others

Volunteering as an IT Buddy will assist members of the public to access IT facilities in libraries, as well as teaching people important new IT skills. Libraries are more than just books, they are important community spaces, that offer the opportunity to change

Training available

Staffordshire County Council will offer training around the use of its IT systems where needed. Information Governance and Health & Safety training will be delivered
