Fundraising Assistant

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

We are looking for a volunteer who can help us raise money for the charity to help us continue to provide our services to those with sight loss in North Staffordshire. The volunteer would be responsible for tasks such as: - Creating and developing fundraising ideas and plans - Assisting in the organisation and implementation of fundraising events - Promoting events - Collecting donations and sponsorship - Corresponding with businesses and individuals - Recording fundraising efforts

At present, we are the only sight-specific North Staffordshire charity supporting people with sight loss. There are currently 15,500 people in North Staffordshire are affected by a sight loss condition, and this figure is expected to rise to 19,070 by 2030.

As a charity, we rely on income from fundraising efforts, but as we are a small team, we are looking for someone to support us in this area. We have a couple of events planned for later on in the year which we need assistance with, and we are hoping to plan additional events.

We are looking for someone who has fresh, original ideas, is motivated, dedicated, and is eager to help us maintain our services for people with sight loss.

We have an office in Hanley which volunteers are welcome to come to, but they are also welcome to do this role from home. There is no required number of hours; we are simply grateful for any help that you could offer.

We provide an induction, sight loss awareness training and comprehensive health and safety policies.

Travel expenses are reimbursed.

We require a DBS, but will fund this for the volunteer. We also require a reference.

Benefits to self

Volunteers in this role would benefit from expanding their marketing knowledge and experience, learn about disability and accessibility, as well as developing new skills in these areas and in communication, gaining confidence, boosting employment opportunities and making new friends.

Benefits to others

The volunteer would be supporting both the charity and individuals with sight loss by helping us maintain our services. Our services (which includes social groups, benefits advice, a resource centre and emotional support) provide our beneficiaries with a wealth of support.
