Activities & Community Officer Blog

Hi I’m Leroy, your elected Activities & Community Officer. I’m here to represent the students views to the university whilst also making sure you get the most out of your time here at Keele whether it be doing volunteering work out in the community or getting involved with all the societies we have at Keele.

I studied Politics and International Relations at Keele before being elected as Activities and Communities Officer at the Students’ Union. As a student, I also did Fencing, language learning. In my spare time I also enjoy listening to a ton of music . My favourite band that I listen to for a pick-me-up Uverworld but I listen to all sorts of bands and music!

Talk to me about:

  • Our 150+ societies
  • RAG (Raise & Give) - our charity fundraising
  • Volunteering

Committee Elections are open

  • The annual Staffs vs Keele Esports contest - Keele was the contest host this year
  • We fought valiantly but lost 3-8
  • Don’t worry we will level them later on at the end of March for Sports Varsity

Saturday Committee Conference

  • Will be held on a Saturday so that all can attend without the need for juggling lectures or seminars.
  • Also, non-committee members will be allowed to come to Committee Conference and benefit from the training we give to committees, so that they can help make committees more accountable, that if they are thinking about becoming future committee members themselves then they can benefit from the training and if they’d like to benefit from the soft skills to place on their CV too.

  • The planters have been placed around campus
  • There will be wooden planters around them to supplement them to be mini campus herb gardens
  • Proper work on installing the herbs will take place in the next month

Nights out

  • Drag night, Pride Night and Roller Disco were our first few themed nights post refreshers
  • Circa Waves and WoodStoke are coming up
  • A new Cocktail Pitcher Deal will be ready to launch soon, only on Friday nights
  • Friday Night DJ music selection changes are underway. We are currently working on Wednesdays and its rotation.

Off Campus Survey

  • An official off campus survey was launched. We specifically wanted to capture data in more detail about off campus life and what kinds of things students want from their off campus spaces and experience.
  • Will be feeding into Newcastle Town projects to come
  • The survey is still open so please fill it out if you haven’t already. It’s available at -
