Education Officer Blog

Hey everyone, my name is Jack and I am your elected Education Officer for this year. My role is to support your studies and ensure that you get the most out of your experience at Keele. I am responsible for a number of projects including Student Voice Representatives, whereby your opinions can be acted on at both a course and school level. My role also includes making sure that your voice is heard and acted on, as well as providing change to university processes including Exceptional Circumstances.

I studied psychology at Keele before being elected. As a student I got involved in a lot of societies, volunteering opportunities, and as a student voice representative. Outside of my degree I enjoy playing video games, and watching horribly scripted reality TV.

Talk to me about:

  • Become a Student Voice rep
  • Issues on your course of study
  • Accessibility of resources

My first week of Officer Induction

It’s been our full first week as your elected officers, and it has been a blast. We’re currently going through an intense and thorough induction to ensure we’re able to represent you as effectively as possible!

We’ve learnt about the many different hats we wear as officers (figurative hats, not actual hats!) and have been busy making relationships with key people from departments within the union to university executives which will allow us to enact changes, ensuring you have the best student experience possible.

As your Education Officer, I’ve been getting to know more about some of our more specialist subjects from Nursing to Veterinary Medicine, and I’m truly excited to be in the position to support students on all degree programmes!

Overall, my favourite part of the job so far though is getting to know the officer team – we’ve been having a blast in team building sessions, and I’m glad I get to work with them all this year.
