This event is run by Re-enactment
This is the Re-enactment society's weekly training session, in which anyone is welcome to have a go at training as a 12th century knight.
We run training most Sundays (unless the weather is awful, there's an event on, or something else) from 11am to 4pm at Keele Green, which is located at the end of the road past the Holly and Oaks student accomodation.
Anyone is welcome to join, it doesn't matter if you have any experience or if you don't want to fight (we have non combatant members as well) we are happy for anyone to pop along and ask questions or just to watch.
If you do want to join in on the training we do reccomend wearing sturdy shoes, as the field can get quite slippy and muddy, as well as some clothes you don't mind if they get a bit dirty. Food and water is also reccomended if you plan on staying for the full day but do not worry if you forget as we often do quick runs down to the SU co-op or someone else will most likely have some spare water or snackage if you ask nicely.
Also if you are worried about getting hurt, all members are safed on their weapon of choice before being let into the main training and we do reserve the right to stop any unsafe behaviour. The weapons we use are completely blunt and to help newer members we start off on wooden weapons at the start of the year. once you progress or find something that suits you we then move onto safe blunt metal weapons later in the year. Most older members also wear padded or maille armour so the most you might get injured is a bruise or two.
