Keele Medics Football Club is a great alternative to the commitment of the university football teams. We offer a relaxed yet competitive alternative open to all skill levels.
The club is open to all five years, both men and women, medics and non-medics. This creates a brilliant hub in which to mix with years above and below in a non-academic setting, allowing you to network and have a kick around at the same time.
Our Social Training is a more relaxed session where (depending on numbers) we will play 5-11 a-side football on the big 3G pitch behind the sports centre (please wear appropriate footwear). Membership for this session is £40, covering you for the entire academic year. Social Training usually* happens once a week on:
A new addition to the club's aims this year is a Team Training session, where those who wish to play competitive 11-a-side games for the Medics can train as a squad. This session will lay the foundation for both our Regional NAMS matches against Manchester, Liverpool and Lancaster Medical Schools, and also the annual one-day NAMS tournament. We are also entered into a local 11-a-side Friday night league. Sessions take usually* place every Tuesday 19:50-21:00. Membership for this session is £55 but allows you to partake in social training (Weds/Thurs nights) and you won't have to pay any match fees for Friday night matches (11-a-side).
*Covid has messed this up and we are working with the Sports Centre to organise a restart to training. Please follow updates on the club Facebook page for up to date info.
If you are on the fence and haven't been before, please do come a long to our taster session (date TBC) for free and see what the club is all about, after the first week if you don't have membership we will charge £4 on the door for all non-members. For those of you looking at the social sessions, we also plan to have some socials throughout the year, whether that be having a drink after a match or fundraising for charity etc. we'd love to see you there!
