Keele Athletics and Cross Country Club is an inclusive and friendly club of athletes who partake in Track, Field, and Cross Country events.
Cross Country training takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7.30pm and is student lead. New this year, we are also planning on doing long runs on a Wednesday afternoon. A more detailed announcement with the training sessions and arrangments for a strength and conditioning session will be announced as summer draws to a close. A vague outline of our sessions include Hill Sprints, Interval Training and Speed Work. The sessions take place around our campus, so you don't have to travel far, only to the Sports Centre Car Park!!
The Athletics training takes place at Northwood Stadium and is hosted by an external club, City of Stoke AC. If demand is high enough, group transport to and from the location will be arranged. Training times will be confirmed during term as they are set by an external club. As these are not Keele facilities there is an additional cost to use them. However, there is a track on Keele Campus by the Sports Centre if this is more suitable to you. Contact us if you wish to set up a session based at Keele.
Throughout the year there are many opportunities to compete, there are various open meets and athletics competitions that are hosted by other universities that we plan to take part in as a club. The most well looked forward to events are the BUCS Cross Country, Indoor Athletics and Outdoor Athletics races. The BUCS events are fantastic experiences, and help us bond as a club. Following the Cross Country event there is a night out held by the host university. If you have an interest in partaking in rewarding events and having an amazing time in the evening, BUCS events are perfect for you!
Our socials are every two weeks on Wednesday, this could change throughout term, so make sure to join our Facebook, instagram or twitter page to stay in the loop! These socials include going to the SU for drinks and a boogie, but throughout the semesters we will have other opportunities to bond as a club. Possible socials include; Trampoline Park, Club Meals, Training Weekends, and lots more of exciting things. Keep your eyes peeled for more news!
