KUFC is the largest club within the AU, with around 150 members each year. We promote determination, progression passion and commitment! Do you have what it takes?
We are both a friendly and competitive club providing a welcoming atmosphere for all players and a level of football for varying abilities. Joining this club is also a great way to make new friends throughout the Uni both on and off the pitch.
We have 6 teams competing in BUCS and local leagues. Our club upholds the values of integrity, teamwork and solidarity which were instilled into the club over nearly 20 years by our Keith Harrison who sadly passed in 2015. Keith was a hugely influential part of the club and one of the major forces behind the first Varsity event. The sports park which includes the 3G pitch where we train and play, has been named after Keith, and the number 16 shirt has been retired in his honour. The club completes a cycle ride to Paris at the end of each year to raise money for charity in his memory; the cycle changed destination to Ghent, Belgium but the club still managed to raise over £1500 for MacMillan in 2019.
Each year, the club holds trials for newcomers usually in October. After these have taken place, training commences twice a week for each team over a 1.5 hour training session. This year, for the first time, the club has introduced a weekend training session in association with the Active Keele project which is held every Sunday for two hours and anyone of any ability is welcome to come along - for just £1 per person each session why wouldn't you get involved!
Socials are held on Wednesdays with various themes throughout the year and serve as a great team bonding opportunity, alongside other numerous charity events. The 18/19 campaign was a huge success for the club with all teams competing in their respective leagues but with a 2-1 Varsity win for the 1st team and an 8-8 Varsity win on penalties for the Futsal team being the first year for both teams to come out on top and an amazing achievement for Keele.
