Women’s Basketball at Keele is recognised as one of the most up and coming clubs in the University. KUWBC have formerly been voted BUCS Team of the Year at the biannual AU Presentation Ball, and a pervious Team Captain was voted Sportswoman of the Year. We currently compete in the Northern 3A division of the BUCS league. We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated players who are willing to work hard throughout the season and become part of a brilliant team.
Basketball experience is not at all necessary; we pride ourselves on being a very friendly, welcoming and social team that cater for all sporting abilities, from complete beginners to international players. All we ask for from you is a positive attitude, a passion for sport and the determination to improve!
The team trains 3 times a week with one session dedicated to individual skills, one to team plays and one to overall fitness. Sessions are fun and engaging but intense, with an overall emphasis placed on team development and enjoyment. We encourage competitiveness and experimentation during training to inspire progress and improvement, which is why the BUCS team train alongside the rest of the club to effectively enhance every players’ skillset.
Socials are held every Wednesday night throughout the season at the SU which is a great way to get to know your teammates, the Men’s team and all the other sports teams at Keele. These always prove to be a lot of fun, bringing the team closer together and forming strong bonds between players. A basketball tour is organised annually, around Easter, and is always a great laugh. This season, we are looking to further extend our efforts for charity which is a great opportunity for every club member to get involved!
