“On female rugby teams – Everybody thinks we should have moustaches and hairy arses, but in fact you could put us all on the cover of Vogue.” – Helen Kirk (1987)
Keele Womens Rugby are a bunch of passionate girls who enjoy playing rugby with thorough determination and dedication. As a team we seek continuous development and welcome any female regardless of year group, academic course or previous rugby experience. We welcome novices to professionals and therefore have a 1st team and a development team (which has been introduced this year (Sep 18) , who train and work together regularly.
We currently play within the Northern 3A league, but with ever growing numbers and passion for the sport, who is to say we will remain in this league and not be promoted? We are a team who like to succeed through hard work, discipline and respect, we train together twice a week, and have strength and conditioning twice a week too. As a team we hold charity events raising money for the Ginger Bread Charity, which allows the team to bond as well as give something back to a very good cause. We have club socials every Wednesday evening, which allow all of the rugby-obsessed girls to get together and have some fun - YES, we believe that if we work hard, we can play even harder.
Please do not hesitate to get in contact with the club prior to your arrival at Keele University, and please know that we are extremely excited to meet, work with, and welcome you to Keele Womens Rugby.
