“On female rugby teams – Everybody thinks we should have moustaches and hairy arses, but in fact you could put us all on the cover of Vogue.” – Helen Kirk (1987)
Women’s Rugby is an ever-growing club at Keele made up of welcoming and friendly girls that have a passion for playing rugby and promoting it as a sport for women as well as men.
With our 1st XV team playing within BUCS Northern 3A and an up-and-coming development squad, we have more than enough room for well-seasoned players as well as those that have never picked up a rugby ball before. Through hard work, discipline and dedication we hope to secure a top spot in our league this coming season – and ultimately get promoted. We train twice a week whilst also taking part in strength and conditioning sessions which gives the team plenty of time to develop and grow together.
Aside from rugby, we are also heavily involved in the social scene at the Keele. From hosting glitter parties to holding 12 hour throw-a-thons and other events for charity, there's a lot for you to get involved in. We have socials most Wednesday evenings that allow us to get together outside of lectures and training to have some fun (work hard to play harder and all that).
