“On female rugby teams – Everybody thinks we should have moustaches and hairy arses, but in fact, you could put us all on the cover of Vogue.” – Helen Kirk (1987)
Women’s Rugby is an ever-growing club at Keele made up of welcoming and friendly girls that have a passion for playing rugby and promoting it as a sport for women as well as men.
With our 1st XV team playing within BUCS Northern 3A, and having just secured a spot in an up-and-coming development league, we have more than enough room for well-seasoned players as well as those that have never picked up a rugby ball before. Through immense hard work and dedication, we remained undefeated in the 2019/20 league; earning us the Team of the Year award for the 2019/20 season. We also have connections with local teams who are always up for a friendly; and we will support you in getting on the pitch, whatever your skill level is!
Our 2020/21 seasons will officially begin in January; however, in the meantime, we will still be training, having Wednesday night socials and hosting fundraising events; so there will be plenty of opportunity to come along and get stuck in, and our girls are always keen to welcome new members into the family. We also offer a social membership for those who love rugby, but don't feel like getting on the pitch is right for them!
If you would like any more information, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us via email, Facebook or Instagram.
