Experience and Community Officer
The Activities and Community Officer advocates for an overall high quality and fulfilling
student experience. They work to ensure there are ample opportunities for students to
participate in activities beyond the formal curriculum that will contribute to their sense of
belonging, personal and professional development and overall happiness such as societies and volunteering. They hold strategic responsibility for the engagement of members in extra curricular activity.
Constitutional requirements of a Student Trustee (defined in Article 35 of the constitution).
Key Responsibilities of Trustees. The Trustees shall:
- At all times act in the best interests of Keele SU.
- Ensure that the Union complies with its governing documents, all applicable laws and statutory regulations or any regulations of any governmental, quasi-governmental, supra-national or other competent agency (including, without limitation, all health and safety legislation) in force from time to time.
- Ensure that KeeleSU’s governance is of the highest possible standard and quality.
- Be guardians of all KeeleSUs assets, both tangible and intangible, taking all due care over their security, deployment and proper application.
- Work in partnership with other Trustees, the Operations Managers and other senior staff in ensuring that KeeleSU has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on their delivery.
- Ensure there are effective mechanisms in place to:
- listen to the views of current and future Members;
- ensure student views are at the heart of everything the University does;
- evidence the impact of Keele SU on the diverse student membership;
- review the external environment for changes that might affect KeeleSU;
- continually re-assess the need for Keele SU and the services it does or could provide and review regularly against its strategic plan and charitable objectives.
Other Duties of the trustees
- In addition to the above duties, each Trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Board of Trustees reach sound decisions.
Athletic Union and Sport Officer
The Athletic Union and Sport Officer advocates for an overall high quality and fulfilling
student experience, paying specific attention to sport and physical activity. They work to ensure there are ample opportunities for students to
participate in sport and activity that will contribute to their sense of
belonging, personal and professional development, health and overall happiness. They work to
tackle the barriers that prevent students engaging in sport and advocate on behalf of all AU clubs.
Constitutional requirements of a Student Trustee (defined in Article 35 of the constitution).
Key Responsibilities of Trustees. The Trustees shall:
- At all times act in the best interests of KeeleSU.
- Ensure that the Union complies with its governing documents, all applicable laws and statutory regulations or any regulations of any governmental, quasi-governmental, supra-national or other competent agency (including, without limitation, all health and safety legislation) in force from time to time.
- Ensure that KeeleSU’s governance is of the highest possible standard and quality.

Education Officer
The Education Officer represents the academic interests of all students. They work to ensure
that students receive an educational experience that is high quality, value for money,
appropriately resourced and accessible. They ensure that students are given ample
opportunities to give meaningful feedback on their academic programmes and work for the
ongoing enhancement of students educational experience. They hold strategic responsibility
for the academic interests of members.

Development and Democracy Officer
The Union Development and Democracy Officer advocates for the membership and the
Students’ Union to the University and wider community. They ensure that students are given
ample opportunities to have their voice heard through accessible and transparent democratic
procedures and hold key responsibility for the input of student feedback into the
development of the Students’ Union. They encourage and enable students to positively
engage with and have meaningful impact on the wider community.

Wellbeing Officer
The Welfare and Diversity Officer advocates for the overall wellbeing, mental health and
safety of the student membership. They work to ensure students are able to access high
quality support services that meet their needs. They champion equality and diversity and
work to tackle the systematic barriers faced by students from liberation backgrounds. They
hold strategic responsibility for the support of members.

NUS Delegate
NUS Delegates represent Keele SU at the NUS Conference on the 28th-29th March. NUS National Conference the head policy making body of NUS UK. Delegates are elected from each local Students’ Union that is an affiliated member of NUS to represent students’ views on a National level. It sets policy for the year ahead and elects the NUS Officers.
We'll be electing our third and final delegate to join Holly Brooks and Jack Medlin, who were elected in November.
