The Barrister v Solicitor event brings together a qualified barrister and a qualified solicitor to give Keele Law Society members an honest, first hand look at both routes into the legal profession. Each speaker will talk through their own journey: how they qualified, what a typical day looks like, the skills their role demands, and the challenges and rewards that come with it.

This is a chance to ask the questions that matter most to you, from the realities of pupillage versus training contracts, to work life balance, career progression, and the personal qualities that tend to suit each path. Whether you are naturally drawn to advocacy and courtroom work or prefer client facing, transactional practice, this event will help you weigh up your own strengths and interests against what each career genuinely involves.

By the end of the session, you should have a much clearer sense of which path, or paths, are worth exploring further as you plan your next steps into the legal profession.
