Keele University is celebrating a strong performance at the 2026 BUCS Nationals, returning with two bronze medals and an impressive series of personal bests and university records across Athletics, Swimming, and Fencing.
Bronze in Senior Women’s Sabre – Bethany Brierley
Keele fencer Bethany Brierley delivered an exceptional performance to secure Bronze in the Senior Women’s Sabre.
Already recognised by BUCS as “One to Watch”, Bethany arrived at the Nationals with a strong record of elite achievement, including:
- Former #1 ranked British junior
- Currently ranked #9 in Senior British Women’s Sabre
- 2023 Welsh Open Sabre Champion
- 2025 Team Keele Awards, Sportsperson of the Year
Her bronze medal adds to an already impressive fencing résumé and highlights her continued rise within the national rankings.
Bronze in the Women’s 400m – Olivia Bell
On the Athletics track, Olivia Bell produced one of the standout runs of the weekend, claiming Bronze in the Women’s 400m.
She crossed the line in 54.73 seconds, a superb personal best, showcasing her growing strength as one of Keele’s top student‑athletes.
