Keele University’s First Team have secured their place in the Cup Final following a dramatic and hard-fought 48–44 victory over Manchester, marking a historic milestone for the club.
In a game that showcased determination, resilience, and composure under pressure, Keele battled relentlessly from the first whistle to the final buzzer. Manchester proved formidable opponents, pushing Keele throughout the game, but the girls grit and collective belief ultimately saw them edge ahead in the first quarter and keep that lead throughout, securing the win.
This achievement is particularly significant as Keele Netball has never made it this far in the Cup competition before. It stands as a true testament to the squad’s unwavering commitment, hard work, and consistent excellence on court throughout the season. Keele will now face Northumbria 1s at home on Wednesday 11th March in what promises to be their biggest challenge yet.
Standout performances across the court were instrumental in Keele’s success. Amalia delivered a phenomenal POTM performance, leading by example with her creative playmaking, dominant strength under the post, and exceptional shooting accuracy. Her ability to control the tempo of the game and convert crucial scoring opportunities proved decisive in the narrow victory. Captain's POTM Em Brown also delivered a stellar performance, embodying leadership and determination throughout. Her defensive intensity resulted in outstanding turnovers at key moments, while her relentless hustle inspired her teammates and disrupted Manchester’s rhythm. The result reflects not only individual brilliance but the collective effort of the entire squad, whose teamwork, resilience, and belief have been the foundation of their success this season. Every player contributed to the defensive solidity and attacking fluidity that allowed Keele to overcome a strong Manchester side.
