Find A Housemate Terms & Conditions

Learn the Terms, Conditions and Privacy details for Keele SU’s Find a Housemate system, including data use, advert rules, safety guidance and your rights.

By using the Find a Housemate (“system”) and engaging with listings (“advert”), you agree to the following Terms and Conditions and Privacy Notice.

Terms and Conditions

  1. Any information submitted into the system will only be used for the purposes of facilitating housing connections between individuals, as well as by Keele SU in an anonymised format to track system usage.
  2. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in your advert (e.g. full address, financial details, or Student ID numbers). All information submitted through the system is visible to Keele SU staff for review and publicly visible to anyone who accesses the advert once the review is completed.
  3. Posts will be automatically removed from display on the website after 1 month to ensure the board stays current.
  4. You have the right to:
    1. Submit an advert via system.
    2. Update your advert via system.
    3. Extend your advert via system if your advert is still current.
    4. Withdraw your advert at any time via the system
  5. Keele SU may make amendments to your advert whilst it is current on the site, such as removing identifiable information or content which breaches other Keele SU policies.
  6. Keele SU may withdraw your advert at any time, without warning if it breaches this policy or any other Keele SU policies.
  7. To list an advert, you must be logged into the Keele SU website and access the system.
  8. To list an advert, you must ensure the property is suitable for students and outline in the advert if the property is restricted to a specific type of student (for example, undergraduates, postgraduates, etc).
  9. Keele SU does not take responsibility for communications outside of the system, or our website.
  10. If meeting in person, please approach people respectfully, meet in a neutral public area (such as the Students' Union, Keele Library, Chancellors etc.) and let friends know where you are going.
  11. Ask lots of questions about the property and the other tenants to ensure you are making an informed decision, and view the property if it is safe to do so.
  12. Do not sign a new tenancy agreement until your current one has been ended, otherwise you will be liable for multiple tenancies.
  13. Our Keele SU Advice Service (ASK) can review the tenancy agreement before you sign or answer any queries you may have.
  14. We do not inspect properties and cannot be held responsible for any issues that may arise.

If you have any queries, please contact su.ask@keele.ac.uk
