Hi, I’m Corey - your new Experience & Community Officer!
I came to Keele in 2021, the year after Covid, and studied History and Politics for my undergraduate degree before moving on to a Master’s in International Relations. Honestly, my time at Keele has been the best years of my life - from hectic nights at the SU to deep 3 am kitchen chats, I’ve lived, breathed, and loved every bit of student life here.
I first got involved in the SU through societies like Snowsports and Men’s Football, and by working on the bar and Safety Bus - all of which gave me a real connection to the heart of the Keele community.
I’m passionate about helping other students make the most of their time here, just like I did. Whether it's nightlife, societies, sport or making sure everyone feels included, I care deeply about creating experiences that people will never forget. Outside of work, I’m into travel, music, football, the outdoors, and tracking down the best bar spots in the area - and I’m always up for a good pub quiz or a spontaneous adventure.
One thing you wish you had known before you came to Keele
The Chapel has free tea and coffee all year round in their open kitchen - and as someone absolutely obsessed with tea, that’s a game-changer. Free stuff + free tea? Say less.

Welcome to my latest report on what I’ve been up to, this is everything I’ve done since the last UGM on Wednesday 1st November. To start with I would like to add to this report that this month I have been on leave for a large portion both on annual leave and sick leave, this has had an impact on the amount of work I have achieved this month. With that out the way, let’s get into it!
Glock & Soc and AU Execs Give it a Go!
- I have officially relaunched my Clubs of Keele and Society Spotlights (previously known as Societies of Keele) campaigns and started the Give it a Go sessions.
- As part of changes to this year's campaign, our AU and Societies Executives are attending sessions in order to maximize the number of sessions we can attend.
- Applications have closed for this semester and will reopen for semester 2.
- We have had 7 applications from clubs and 8 from societies, with sessions scheduled over the next couple weeks, keep an eye out for videos and progress on my officer Instagram page; maisie_keelesu
- We will be showing the clips and relaunching the campaign during Refreshers at the start of semester 2 so if you want to get involved check your club and society inboxes.
Winter Past Vs Present (PvP)
- On Saturday 4th November we had our Winter PvP!
- This is our twice annual event where we invite alumni back to Keele to compete against current students in our AU Clubs, this year I took more of a backseat and supported the AU team through advertising the event and getting in touch with alumni to get involved.
Societies Forum
- On Thursday 16th November we held the first Society Forum of the year.
- This is a forum for our society members to come along and get updates on what activities and I have been up to as well as discuss society-specific issues and ideas.
- In this forum we discussed an idea for a new winter society event, pushing society events, setting up society drop ins, as well as support for society awards application writing for next semester.
Movember
- Movember has just wrapped up. Through the month of November, I supported our AU team and Movember representative in running numerous fundraising activities.
- These included; hosting an online quiz, hosting a shuffleboard competition, and participating and helping organise 24-hour spinathon (shoutout to Jade for getting all those last-minute midnight sign ups).
- Over the course of the month, we managed to raise £6,477 across the university, smashing our goal of £5,000.
AU Winter Ball
- Last week we held our Athletic Union Winter Ball. This is one of the biggest events of the year, with over 400 attendees from our AU clubs.
- This year, we asked our AU members if they would prefer to host the ball at Keele Hall or at the SU as the prices of holding the ball at Keele Hall have increased from last year, with students voting to hold the ball at Keele Hall for the winter event.
- We also discussed with Keele Hall cheaper food options and asked our AU committee to vote on 3 options; 3 course meal prices at £40, 2 course meal priced at £37.50 or a 2-course meal with starters at the SU (as we can provide more food for the cost than Keele Hall) at £40. Students voted for the 3-course meal which is what we had.
- We are currently collecting feedback from the event and will get more feedback before deciding on the location for the Summer AU Ball/Awards.
