Don't rush to rent!
It's around this time of year where students start thinking about where they will be living in the next academic year. There is a lot to consider and it is good to think about the details (who/what/where) but the advice from ASK is very much "don't rush to rent"!
So much can change between now and when you are actually ready to move into a shared house. You may no longer be quite such good friends with those people who you currently are, you may need to take time out of your studies, or have a change in personal circumstances. If you sign a housing contract, you are bound to it. Changing your mind does not mean you can be released from that legal document and you may have to pay for a house that you are unable to live in.
It is important to note that the housing market has changed a lot in the last few years and there is now much more private rented accommodation than there has been in previous years.
There is some useful information here for people who are starting to look.
