Veganuary 2022: Recommendations And Resources
What Is Veganuary?
Apart from a wordplay, Veganuary is an annual challenge created in 2014 to encourage people to take up veganism for the month of January. Their mission is ‘to inspire and support people to try vegan, drive corporate change, and create a global mass movement championing compassionate food choices with the aim of ending animal farming, protecting the planet and improving human health.’
Why Go Vegan?
There are three main reasons why people choose to go vegan:
-
For Your Health - There are many health benefits of veganism, many studies have shown it lowers the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and also helps with weight loss.
-
For The Environment - Livestock and their by-products account for 51% of annual worldwide greenhouse gas emissions*. By cutting meat and dairy out of your diet can greatly reduce your carbon footprint.
-
For the Animals - This reason is often met with a sigh. However, adopting a vegan diet does reduce the amount of suffering of animals that is caused from the meat and dairy industries.
