Every Union Delegate holds a seat on Union Assembly, the decision-making meeting where students set the direction of their Students' Union. As a Delegate you will:

• Vote on ideas and motions. Delegates decide which student ideas become Keele SU policy, and that policy binds your Elected Officers.
• Hold your Elected Officers to account. Full-time Elected Officers report to Union Assembly and answer questions from Delegates on what they have done and what they have not.
• Support Networks, Societies and Clubs. Liberation Delegates hold positions within their respective Network Committees, consult members on motions, and raise ideas on their behalf. Team Keele and Society Delegates work with club and society committees to ensure they are represented throughout policy and decision-making at Keele SU.

From 2026/27, most Union Delegate seats sit inside a student network committee.

Keele SU has seven student networks, each run by a flat team of Co-Chairs rather than a single president. Three Co-Chair posts form the core of every network committee:

• Communications Co-Chair
• Union Delegate the post that carries the network's seat at Union Assembly
• Non-portfolio Co-Chair who carries the network's finance function

If you are elected as the Union Delegate for a network, you do two connected jobs: you help run the network alongside your fellow Co-Chairs, and you carry what that network decides into Union Assembly. It is the link that turns a network conversation into a Union decision.

A handful of Delegate seats sit outside the networks. Those Delegates represent their group directly and are not part of a network committee.

You do not have to be a Union Delegate to get involved in a network. Anyone who self-defines can stand for another Co-Chair post, take on a task-based role, or simply come along.

Union Assembly is open to every Keele student, not only to Delegates. Come along, listen, ask a question, or speak on an idea you care about.

You do not need to be a Delegate to put an idea to Union Assembly. Any Keele student can.

Submit an Idea

Submissions close a week before each meeting, on the idea deadline in the table above. That week lets us check every submission against our charitable objectives, charity law and other relevant legislation. You can ask to be kept updated on your submission, and you will be told whether Delegates approved it.

Keele SU's affiliations with external organisations are voted on at the Annual General Meeting, taking place on Tuesday 1 December 2026.

Your Union Delegates for 2026/27 will be announced on Friday 16 October 2026, and this page will be updated then.
