LET US INTRODUCE OURSELVES //

Hello, we’re Keele Students' Union (Keele SU). We exist to support you in all you do at Keele and are independent from the University so we can be your voice on thing that matter to you.

We’re more than just a nightclub (But we do have 2!), running an Advice Centre (ASK), 150+ Clubs & Societies, Volunteering opportunities, food & drink outlets, and so much more.

Students are automatically members of Keele SU. As a membership-led organisation you get a say in how your Students’ Union is run; by voting for officers and putting forward suggestions on the way we do things.

Joining a society is a great way of making new friends, having fun and creating long-lasting memories, and we have more than 100 societies for you to join, here at Keele. So whether you’re into crafts, dance, politics, films, literature or sports we’re sure that you can find your perfect society and club.
You can join as many as you like, just visit our Clubs and Societies page and you can find all the societies that we have to offer.

You might find adjusting to University life a little difficult sometimes and this is why Keele SU provide a high quality advice and support service. Advice & Support at Keele SU (ASK) is here to help you throughout your time at Keele, however big or small your issue might be.

What is Keele Welcome Week?

Welcome Week is your introduction to life at Keele University, you will learn about what to expect in the upcoming academic year, how to use our facilities/services and get to experience all the students’ union has to offer. We will provide a vibrant schedule of events and activities to help you get to know people and to keep you entertained. Previously we called this week Freshers Week, but this year we are excited to Welcome all students back to Keele.

When is Keele Welcome Week?

Keele Freshers will begin on Saturday 16th September 2023. For international students and those who are supported by the Keele Disability and Dyslexia team, pre-arrivals events will begin on Thursday 14th September 2023.

How do I join the Students’ Union?

Once you are accepted and are granted a place at Keele University, you’ll automatically be part of the Students’ Union. No hassle required.

How do I know if it's an official Union event?

All official union events are found on our Events and Tickets page, you can find out if it is official or not through there.

Do the events cost money?

It depends on the event. To find out if you need to buy a ticket got to the events page and find your event, click on it and it will tell you if it’s free or not.

I’m in my third year at Uni – can I come to some of the events?

Sure thing! All events are open to all students whether you’re new or not.

Do I need to bring ID to the events?

Yes. You will need to provide your Keele Student Card to attend our events.

Can I buy tickets for someone else?

This depends on the event you want to attend. All ticket purchases and prices are available to view on each individual event page.

When do I need to arrive for events?

That is completely up to you, but we advise at least 15 minutes before the event starts to guarantee entry.

How can I keep up to date with current events?

You can find out about all of our latest events on our events page. You might want to save this page on your laptop or phone. Alternatively, you can follow our Keele Entertainments Facebook and Instagram pages where we will keep you refreshed on all of our current events.

Do I need to pay to join a society?

That depends on the society. To find out, find the society or club that you wish to join and click on them. Once you are on their page, scroll down to the purple bar and find the ‘join us’ tab. It will then provide you with the memberships and costs that they offer.

Do sports/activities cost to join?

Yes. To join a sports club, you will need to buy an Athletic Union (AU) membership first, and then you can buy a club membership. However, we do offer a free trial period at the beginning of the academic year so you can have a taste of everything.

Do I need to buy health insurance to take part in sports events?

No, but you do need to purchase an Athletic Union (AU) Membership, in addition to purchasing a club membership. Find out more on our Athletic Union page.
We do offer an ‘I’m interested’ membership where you can have free taster sessions at the beginning of the year. If you have further questions about club offers, feel free to contact us or them. Their details will appear on their society & club page.

I’m struggling to settle in, is there someone I can talk to?

Yes. You can contact our they are here to help you whatever your issue may be.

Are there any quiet and relaxing places to go during Welcome Week?

Yes, we have many places that you can relax in during Welcome Week, including our Campus Library, the Exhibition Suite in the Chancellor’s Building, The Students’ Union Ground Floor and Keele Campus Grounds. Discover more about our campus facilities.
